The line infantry was the backbone of Napoleon’s Grande Arm√©e. The ‚Äúshako‚Äù headgear adopted in 1806, replacing bicorn hats, and the Charleville 1777 musket, are the most characteristic elements of French line infantry. The equipment was completed by the briquet, a sort of infantry shortsword. The kit also includes the regiment’s drummer and the ‚Äúeagle-bearer‚Äù carrying the regiment’s insignia.
